Object Relational Mapping Technologies - A Demo Enhanced Survey of Hibernate, JDO, and EJB Entity Beans 3.0

This presentation compares and contrasts the features of three well known Object to Relatinal Mapping (ORM) frameworks with respect to Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs) - Hibernate, JDO and EJB v3.

In addition to slide presentation, each ORM technology will be demonstrated in Eclipse with a simple database example.

The comparison of the 3 technologies targets the following ORM features:
  • Transparent Persistence
  • Cascading Operations with Entity Relationships
  • Entity Identity
  • Attached / Detached Mapping States
  • Transaction Demarcation
  • Cross Cutting Persistence Concerns - Pooling, Caching, Locking, Eager/Lazy Loading
  • Application Architecture with ORM POJO Technologies
Attendees can receive the Eclipse workspaces containing the examples by emailing the speaker.
